"Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed,
and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, 'Take,
eat; this is my body.' And he took a cup, and when he
had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, 'Drink of it,
all of you: for this is my blood of the covenant, which is
poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.'"

Knights of the Blessed Sacrament (K.B.S.)
While holding his position as Director of the Assumption College during 1920-1929, Brother Michael Rene Leduc had noticed that a certain number of old boys of the College lost their faith and stopped professing their religion. With deep worries of the souls in sins he therefore contacted the Center of the Knights of the Blessed Sacrament (K.B.S.) in London, England, requesting for the Rules and Regulations of K.B.S. to study whether it would be expedient to extablish the K.B.S. in Thailand.
After studying the Rules and Regulations of the K.B.S. to his satisfaction, he invited teachers of Assumption College, St. Gabriel's College and old boys of both Colleges for a meeting to duscuss over the matter and it was most pleasing that everybody at the meeting unanimously agreed to establish the K.B.S. or Knights of the Blessed Sacrament.
The Knights of the Blessed Sacrament therefore was established in 1926 under the patronage of Brother Michael who was appointed as Adviser, Rev.Father Gastale was the Spiritual Father and Mr.Fred G. de Jesus as Knight Commander.
Under the leadership of the said three persons, the K.B.S. had steadily progressed with more than 100 members and was well known among the catholics in those days.
During the time Brother Michael was Adviser, he behaved as the father of all mambers of tha K.B.S. by rendering great assistance in many ways. Other than the spiritual help, he also offerred the four requisites, particularly housing welfare. He set up Teresa City at Convent Road for members of the K.B.S. at very cheap rent.
Later in 1940-1941 there was a dispute between Thailand and Indochina and he had to leave us to live in Yercaud, India. While staying there, there was a severe shortage of water supply. He wrote a letter to the K.B.S. asking for help to build a reservior to relieve the hardship of the Indians who suffered greatly at that time. The members of the Knights of the Blessed Sacrament at that time supported this request and collected amount of Baht 11,600 or Rupees 2,720 and remitted the whole amount to him. That amount of money was of tremendous benefits because it helped relieving the seminarians, priests, brothers and the public from adversities with consumption water thereafter which brought great gleefulness to Brother Michael.
The intentions of the Knights of the Blessed Sacrament are as follows :
Every member shall have special devotion to the Blessed Sacrament and to go to confession and receive Holy Communion at least once a week, maintain true catholic life, be good example to all in general, attend the meeting once a month. At each meeting, there will be singing of song of the K.B.S., recruiting the Rosary and collecting contributions in aids of churches which are in need of help and the needy with no discrimination of nationalities.
The basic activity of the K.B.S. is to perform merits quiescently. Each year the K.B.S. will make pilgrimage to the impoverished church and poor catholics to provide monetary aids, medicines, apporels and others which is still carrying on up to this day. At the end of 1976 there was a flood in the northeastern region of Thailand and our brethren sustained damanges, injuries and fatilities. The members of K.B.S. had contributed Baht 10,000 to relieve the adversities of the victims at the request of Bishop Council of Thailand.
Another basic activity of the K.B.S. is to help the various works of the Assumption Cathedral because the K.B.S. was set up under the roof and attachment to the Cathedral. At the procession of the Blessed Sacrament and the Feast of the Assumption, the K.B.S. will help putting up the pavillion for the Blessed Sacrament and carry the statue of the Blessed Virgin at the procession.
Despite the number of members of the K.B.S. has reduced greatly at the moment, the remaining members still hold the monthly meeting and carry on the activities as had been done in the past. The Manual in your hand is another step of the K.B.S. in an attempt to make improvement. The new revision of the Regulations will be used in compaigning new members of K.B.S. From now on the K.B.S. will be able to accept members both males and females which formerly only males were accepted.
